Want to use your voice to make a real difference to young people’s mental health across the UK?

Applications are now open for the Mental Health Foundation Young Leaders Project 2026–27, an exciting opportunity for young people aged 13–25 to work with the Mental Health Foundation and Leaders Unlocked on national campaigns, research and policy.

As a Young Leader, you’ll meet experts, share your ideas, influence real change, take part in peer research, and help shape conversations around issues affecting young people today, from online lives and bullying to wellbeing and prevention.

You’ll also build confidence, leadership and communication skills, connect with other passionate young people across the UK, and gain valuable experience you can use for your future.

We’re looking for young people from all backgrounds and experiences who are ready to speak up, get involved and help shape a better future for youth mental health.

Please use the following link to apply using the google form: https://forms.gle/egHXLTSwDV8wVags8

If you would prefer to apply via document, please download, complete and return the application form below.

If you’d prefer to apply via telephone rather than in writing, we’d be more than happy to organise this. Contact bhavan@leaders-unlocked.org and we will agree on a time that would work for a call.

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact: Bhavan@leaders-unlocked.org

Get involved

If you’re interested in getting involved with the work we do at Leaders Unlocked, please do send us a message via our contact us page. We are always keen to hear from young people who may want to take part in our projects, as well as professionals who may want to collaborate.

"We’ve been involved in peer engagement work with Leaders Unlocked. The young leaders we worked with engaged with over 100 service users in custody. We have been so impressed with the work. We are engaging with the young adults as colleagues, and the fact that they are former service users is almost secondary. The most important thing is the high quality work they are delivering."
