The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) Youth Panel – an influential national panel of young people which is facilitated by Leaders Unlocked in partnership with the IOPC.
Set up in 2018, the IOPC Youth Panel enables 16–25-year-olds to influence change in relation to police complaints and policing practice across England and Wales. The Panel does this by:
- Amplifying the voices of young people from diverse communities through its annual survey and regional workshops.
- Delivering youth-led workshops to police forces, to help them engage more effectively with young people.
- Providing youth-centred recommendations to the IOPC and wider policing stakeholders.
- Advocating for longer-term system change at the national level. In the year ahead, the Panel will be using its 2030 Manifesto for Change as the basis for its influencing work, which is soon to be published.
The role of Project Coordinator is an exciting and varied one. You will be the organisational lead for the IOPC Youth Panel project. This will include driving the project plan forward, liaising with the IOPC and external stakeholders, and being the point of contact for the young people and their parents/carers.
Job description:
The Project Coordinator will:
- Co-ordinate all activities on the IOPC Youth Panel project, in line with the timescales outlined in the project plan.
- Plan and facilitate engagement workshops with young people and police forces, in various locations across England and Wales.
- Plan the development of agendas and materials for meetings and workshops, both online and face-to-face.
- Maintain positive engagement with young people taking part on the IOPC Youth Panel project. For example: ensuring participation at group meetings, maintaining the project WhatsApp group, understanding the young people’s capabilities and interests.
- Create engaging communications, such as emails to reach out to partners, promotion of the national survey, and regular project updates to the IOPC.
- Contribute to content which can be shared on social media, websites and with stakeholders.
- Attend and participate in staff training and staff meetings for professional development and to support the wider operations of Leaders Unlocked.
